Talk Like a Pirate

Ahoy! Today be International Talk Like A Pirate Day me mateys! Aye, that be correct, ye lubbers. Today be the day when ye're supposed ta talk like a pirate. (Some bilge rats have been known ta misunderstand and talk like a parrot, so don't ye make that same mistake!) It's a completely silly notion and that's the whole point of it. So raise yer cup o' grog and give a toast to Talking Like a Pirate!

One of my friends grumbled that International Talk Like a Pirate Day was just something Hallmark invented to sell more greeting cards... never mind that A) they don't sell TLAPD cards, and B) the origins of it are well-documented and purely innocent of that kind of cold cynicism. And I thought I was bitter and negative. I mean, I am... but even I can join the fun of Talking Like A Pirate.
